Cosmo is a health and education product designed by Filisia to assist therapists focusing mainly on autistic children patients. Half software and half hardware, it consists of several units that light up to a colourful set and are combined in several ways to assist, among others, coordination, movement and memory exercises. The units work as remote controllers that the students can play with, in order to interact with image and sound through multiple concepts developed as activities in Cosmo's iPad application.
The concept behind Cosmo's brand identity is the force of magnetism. The name Cosmo, given to the product because of the resemblance between units and planets, reminds us of gravity or the “magnetic” force that pulls planets together. The kind of relationship and dependance can be observed growing between therapist and patient in the environments that Cosmo is used. This magnetism becomes the main force that drives the design approach; Cosmo’s logo and its round units, follow this concept to form a vivid and colourful visual identity.
